Heathrow introducing new 3D scanners to end liquids and laptops carry-on hassle

The equipment from FTSE100 engineering giant Smiths Group uses 3D images and advanced explosives detection that means electronics and liquids can remain inside carry-on luggage, speeding up the passenger screening process.

Smiths Detection boss Roland Carter said the new equipment offered benefits for passenger experience as well as enhanced security.
